BAG History Group / History Festival May Program
South Australia's History Festival is an annual statewide event exploring South Australia's history through hundreds of events ranging from talks to tours, walks to workshops, exhibitions to special events and just about everything in between. BAG has participated in the history festival for many years and is pleased to present our 2024 tours.

Travel back in time... by train
Catch the train at Belair railway station to Eden Hills and Blackwood stations. Learn about the development and challenges faced by the early railway network, first built 140 years ago, and its value to local districts and the state. Devonshire tea will be served at Blackwood station.
WHEN: Sunday 5 May or Saturday 25 May
8:30AM to 12:30PM
WHERE: Meet at the Belair Railway Station
COST: $5 plus train ticket if applicable

Belair National Park - Off the Beaten Track
Tour Australia’s second oldest national park in a minibus with a guide to sites of historic significance, including Old Government House. Walk in the bush to learn about native flora, Indigenous & Colonial history and visit unusual memorials.
NB this activity involves some short distance walks on rough tracks.
WHEN: Saturday 18 May 11:50AM - 5PM or
Sunday 19 May 8:45AM - 2PM
WHERE: Will be provided during booking.
COST: $35 Bus Tour Cost: (includes a.m /p.m. refreshments, includes all entry fees)
Participants to bring a cut lunch and drink.

Belair - Heritage Along the Ridge
Belair’s history and its links to the development of the state will be shared and grand summer residences highlighted as we walk along Sheoak Road. Refreshments will be served at heritage listed Belair Railway Station, opened in 1883, a popular stop for picknickers visiting Belair National Park.
WHEN: Friday 10 May or Saturday 11 May, 1:30PM to 3:30PM
